About "Maiden and Unicorn" HEALING ART

Creation Story & Symbology of the Artwork & Healing

In my Dreamtime I traveled backward through space/time and accessed the dimension/ place inhabited by my younger self, replete with the energy of true innocence. By connecting with the goodness and wonder of my younger self, I entered into a state where the virtue of Purity attracts the noble unicorn.

In this Dimension, the virgin, who has always been the means to subdue the unicorn, does not betray the unicorn to the hunter. Instead, the maiden becomes the conduit, the means by which the unicorn's healing strength can be accessed.

The White Maiden (or White Lady) has long served as the Guardian Spirit of the Waters of Life, the spring of renewal. In 15th-century unicorn tapestries, the healing waters were shown as a fountain fenced within a grotto enclosure. In this context, the maiden was known as the "Lady of the Fountain."

The spiritual haven in my art is natural and wild. There is no spring-fed fountain nor is there a captive unicorn tethered upon a tree.

The art depicts the rawness of Nature as un-contained, but it’s beauty still eternal.

The scene is deep autumn, symbolic of death-in-life. Before the onset of winter, the dying leaves fall to the earth. The skulls represent the fleeting nature of beauty & how death gives meaning to life. It is all a part of nature’s rich cycle: the fall's leaves become fertilizer for spring’s new growth.

The Unicorn's horn, suggests spiritual vitality. Like an all-seeing third eye, it sees dreams and inner vision. The horn mitigates the effects of poison. The waters are changed into a cure when the unicorn touches its horn into the water.
